Luna didn’t pause in the doorway. She never did. Pausing was for people who needed the moment to land; she’d learned a long time ago that the moment landed whether you waited for it or not. She crossed the room to the bar, ordered something warm, and was halfway through it before she noticed that the conversation around her had resumed at a slightly different pitch than before — quieter, more careful, the way sound gets when people are paying attention to something and trying not to show it.
