The Rivet & the Dark — Stainless Steel Punk Stud Choker

The Ember-glass Forges of Ironspire don't make soft things. The smiths there work in shifts because the fire never goes out — not in a century, not in a storm, not for anything — and what comes out of that fire carries the memory of it in the metal. The The Rivet & the Dark — Stainless Steel Punk Stud Choker came out of those forges: stainless steel, punk-edged, rivet studs running the full length of the choker like something between armor and ornament, centered pendant weighted just enough to feel intentional when it moves.

Luna found it in the Shadow Districts on the way back from the Great Forge — not the piece she had gone to Ironspire for, but the one that made itself impossible to leave behind. That's how the Districts work. You go in looking for one thing and something else finds you first, and if you know the language of Ironspire — which is knowing what you have, knowing what they want, and standing very still while both sides figure out if the numbers work — you come out with both.

She fastened it around her neck before she came back through the portal. It sat exactly where a choker should — close to the throat, present without being tight, the studs catching the forge-light every time she turned her head. She pulled on her jacket. The steel against the black fabric looked like it had always been there.

Cinder sniffed the pendant once when she came through. Put his head back down. Satisfied. High praise from a wolf who takes these things seriously.

The rivet detail is not decoration. In Ironspire, rivets are how you hold something together under pressure — the join that doesn't give when everything else does. The smiths at the Ember-glass Forges put them in everything that needs to last. This choker was made to last. The stainless steel finish doesn't tarnish, doesn't soften, doesn't apologize for what it is. Neither do the people who wear it.
