The merchant would sell Luna the Unclaimed Heart Pentagram Spike Choker, a black PU faux-leather gothic choker with silver-tone spikes, a heart-shaped center ring, layered chains, and a dangling pentagram. The money was the easy part. Before she could take it home, its previous owner needed a receipt.

“Then give me the receipt,” Luna said.

The merchant slid a narrow strip of folded paper across the stone.

“And the address?”

He pointed through the arch behind her.

Of course he did.

Beyond that arch, the market passages bent toward the northern face of the unnamed city, where the Ashen Plains pressed close enough to leave pale dust in every seam. Behind her lay the eastern curve, ordinary traders, desert air, things that cast sensible shadows. Here, beneath enormous lintels and sloping stone walls, a customer with too many joints was disputing the weight of an empty box.

The merchant waited without impatience. Tripoint had time for a precise deal.

Luna lifted the choker. Two chains slipped over her fingers. Between the spikes sat that ridiculous, excellent heart, with the five-pointed pendant hanging beneath it.

“What did she trade it for?”

“A departure.”

“From whom?”

“Her employer.”

Luna unfolded the receipt.

There were columns. There were signatures. There was a final line confirming that the account had been settled in full, with no service remaining due.

She read it twice.

“And you let her leave without this?”

“She left quickly.”

For the first time, the merchant looked away.

Luna set down her coins.

“Keep it here.”

The passage beyond the arch narrowed until the buildings almost touched overhead. She found the woman beside a shuttered stall, one hand braced against the stone, the other holding the strap of a bag that had been packed badly and in a hurry.

Someone stood between her and the street.

He wore a beautiful coat. Luna disliked him immediately.

“An additional collection charge,” he was explaining.

“No,” Luna said.

He turned.

She held the receipt where he could read it. His gaze moved down the columns, slowed at the signatures, stopped at the final line.

“This is between—”

“Read the bottom.”

“I can read.”

“Wonderful. We’ve saved some time.”

He reached for the paper.

Luna folded it before his fingers arrived.

“Not your copy.”

The woman behind him made a small sound. Almost a laugh. It seemed to surprise her.

A weighing scale stopped clicking at the neighboring stall. Two traders turned to watch. Whatever else passed through this market, a settled account had to remain settled, or every bargain beneath its ancient roofs became worth less.

The man noticed his audience.

He adjusted his cuffs and stepped aside.

Luna waited until he had gone before giving the woman her receipt.

“Inside pocket,” she said. “Somewhere dry.”

The woman tucked it away with both hands.

“Did you buy the necklace?”

“Trying to.”

“I chose that one myself,” she said. Her thumb brushed the bare place at her throat. “Before all this.”

Luna looked back toward the market arch.

“Want me to bring it?”

The woman considered it. Then shook her head.

“No. I’d rather choose something new.”

When Luna returned, the merchant had wrapped the choker in plain cloth. She checked the snaps, lifted the chains clear of the fold, and tucked the parcel into her bag.

“Delivered?” he asked.

“Delivered.”

“Any difficulty?”

“Someone needed help reading.”

Back in Pedlar’s Attic, Chelle watched her unwrap it beneath the counter lamp. The spikes caught first, then the chains, then the open heart.

“That looks like you,” Chelle said.

“It’s for the display.”

Chelle glanced at the way Luna was holding it against her collarbone.

She wisely said nothing.

Some hearts come back from the edge with spikes. The Attic makes room for those, too.

About This Piece

A gothic punk statement choker pairing a black PU faux-leather band with silver-tone spike studs, an open heart-shaped centerpiece, two draped chains, and a pentagram pendant. The contrast is the point: a little romance, a little rebellion, and absolutely no need to soften either.

  • Material: PU faux leather with silver-tone metal hardware.
  • Closure: Adjustable snap fastening.
  • Listed size: Approximately 40 cm (15.7 inches); the supplier does not specify the minimum and maximum fastened neck measurements.
  • Centerpiece: Heart ring approximately 4 cm (1.6 inches) across; pentagram pendant approximately 3 cm (1.2 inches).
  • Listed weight: Approximately 35.9 g (1.26 oz).
  • Styling: Wear with an open neckline, mesh layers, a band tee, or a black dress that could use a sharper edge.
  • Care: Wipe gently with a soft cloth, keep dry, and store with the chains untangled. Avoid perfume, prolonged moisture, and pulling on the pendant.

Questions from the Display Case

Is this choker genuine leather?

No. The black band is PU faux leather, not animal leather.

Is the choker adjustable?

Yes, it has snap-fastening positions. The listed measurement is approximately 40 cm, but a precise fastened fit range is not supplied. Measure your neck and allow comfortable breathing and movement rather than assuming it will fit every neck size.

Are the chains and pentagram part of the same necklace?

Yes. The layered chains, heart centerpiece, spikes, and hanging pentagram form one choker design, rather than a set of separate necklaces.

Is the silver-tone hardware sterling silver?

It is described here by its silver-tone appearance. Sterling silver, a specific metal alloy, and hypoallergenic properties have not been verified.

Does the pentagram provide protection?

This is decorative fashion jewelry. Its symbolism is yours to interpret; Luna’s Tripoint adventure belongs to the fictional world of Pedlar’s Attic, not a promise of supernatural effects.

Cute but sadly it's pretty small. Even as a choker it's pretty small. Wish it had one more snap to make it fit better and not literally choke me. Cute tho!
